In true standards based grading, students are only graded on what they know (assessments). Due to the fact that we are introducing a new curriculum, as well as a new method of instruction, I have included other factors that will help to determine a student's final grade.
Reading Assessments: Students may be assessed for comprehension after a reading assignment. These assessments will be worth 10 points.
Science and Engineering Practices: These assessments will be graded according to the rubrics that the students received and worth up to 25 points.
Learning Set/Lesson assessments: These assessments are based on the student’s understanding of the content as we proceed through each unit. These assessments are worth up to 50 points.
Unit assessments: These assessments are based on the student’s understanding of the content at the conclusion of each unit. These assessments are worth up to 100 points.
The above assessments are worth 85% of the total letter grade in this classroom. The assessments carry different weights based on their point value system.
